Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell class blog. We had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day! All the children looked amazing and we shared some really nice books.
In English, we continued to read the story ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ We received a letter from Goldilocks. She needed some instructions to help her make porridge. We made porridge and discussed what we needed to do. We shared questions to ask Goldilocks and know we need to use a question mark when writing a question. We then asked our questions to Goldilocks!
In Maths, we have been ordering the number blocks 1-10. We have used the stem sentence __is more than__ and __ is less than __. We have worked out which number block can hide behind another number block. For example, 3 can hide behind 4 as 3 is one less than 4.
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing our previously taught sounds. We have read and written the words fair, boxer, seven, comic and chatter. We have recapped the tricky words full, push, and, go, no and written sentences like ‘The duck is bigger than the rabbit.’
In Learning Means the World we have looked at Google Maps and found the school, Holy Trinity Church, the market square and Spa Park. We have recapped the different types of houses and identified the different houses close to the school.
In RE, we have recapped the Easter story and shared what Christians believe, ‘Jesus died on the cross.’ Said Tommy, ‘He came back alive.’ Said Lewis and Georgie explained ‘Mary fell to the ground, she was so happy Jesus was alive.’
In Provision, we have painted houses, made junk model homes, explored weight and capacity using porridge oats, made a cookbook for Goldilocks and enjoyed spending time in the Three Bears Cottage role play area.
