Lovely Laver News

What a wonderfully busy and brilliant week we have had in Year 1! We are working hard and shining brightly like the stars in our Nativity! This week, our brains have been super busy learning lots of exciting things.

Phonics Power!

We have been cracking the code with four brand-new digraphs: 'ay' (like in play), 'oy' (like in toy), 'ou' (like in cloud), and 'ea' (like in dream). We have worked incredibly hard to spot these sounds when segmenting and blending our words.

English Explorers!

We are now expert question writers! We have been using question words (like Who, What, Where, Why, When) and remembering to put a question mark (?) at the end of our sentences.

Maths Masters!

We have been getting super speedy at finding a part when we know the whole amount. This is helping us understand how numbers are made up!

Learning Means the World

We had some very important lessons this week about keeping safe and belonging!

We learnt all about the Green Cross Code and practised how to cross the road safely. Remember to Stop, Look, Listen, and Think!

We had a lovely discussion about the different communities we belong to—our family, our class, our school, and our town. It’s important to feel like you belong!

Anti-bullying day

We had some lovely visitors at the end of last week from the Year 6 Caring Crew. They came to us and delivered a very exciting quiz. We then had time to talk to our Caring Crew and complete activities.

Christmas News

We are practising so hard for our Twinkly Nativity! The children are doing a fantastic job singing their hearts out. They are truly shining like little stars! A huge well done to everyone for their effort and enthusiasm.
