Lovely Laver News

What a busy and brilliant final week we have had in Year 1! From solving "Santa’s problems" to shining on stage, the children have made us so proud.

Oh no! Santa arrived this week having forgotten all his tricky words. Luckily, Year 1 were on the case to help him out! The children worked incredibly hard on their writing, focusing on using clear finger spaces, capital letters, and full stops to ensure Santa could read their corrections easily.

In Maths, we have been mastering the art of subtraction. We practised crossing out items to find the total remaining and introduced number lines. We now know the golden rule: to subtract, we must always jump backwards!

The children truly shone bright during our performances of the Twinkly Nativity. They sang their hearts out and performed with such confidence—it was a joy to watch them all sparkle.

We ended the week with a fantastic Christmas party! The classroom was full of laughter as we:
-Hunted for candy canes hidden by Mrs. Wright (don't worry, we found every single one!).
-Played "Pass the Jingle Bells" and Musical Statues.
-Enjoyed some festive juice and biscuits.

A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for your incredible support during this first term. It has been a pleasure watching the children grow.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
