Laver Class Blog!
Hello! What a gorgeous sunny week we have had in Laver, jam packed with learning and joy!
In English, we have been planning and crafting our own stories about a tiny character called Miffy who takes an adventure around school. We came up with different adjectives to describe how tall things must be to little Miffy. Vishruth came up with 'enormous', Arthur came up with 'gigantic' and Thomas K said 'we could look in a thesaurus'.
In Maths we have continuing to develop our understanding of equal groups and using the 2s, 5s and 10s to answer problems and create equal groups by sharing and grouping. Reenie said 'it's really helpful to use the counters' and we all praised the process!
In Learning Means The World this week we have been focusing on what makes a good friend and how we can demonstrate good friendship in school and outside of school. We said that sharing is one of the most important ways to be a best pal!
In RE, we have been continuing our work on Islam and what it means to be a muslim. This week we are learning about the prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and looking at some of the stories from the Qur'an that describe what he did/who he was.
On VE Day, we had a crack at collaging and created some beautiful union flags to celebrate 80 years since Victory in Europe! The children showed great skill at matching the colours of the flag and creating wonderful collages. We also listened to some songs that were sung in those days and sang together...
"Run rabbit run rabbit run run run.
Don't give the farmer is fun fun fun.
He'll get by without his rabbit pie.
So, run rabbit run rabbit run run run!"
We learnt that during World War 2, people had to ration food. Henry said 'maybe that's why they would want to eat a rabbit'.
