Ribble's Class Blog

What have we been exploring this week?

Learning Means the World has been very interesting this week as we have been looking at women’s football. We were very shocked by the history of women’s football and how the World War 1 impacted this. The discussions about stereotypes of girls at the time about how they were portrayed surprised a lot of the class – we are excited to continue this next week!

In Ribble, our maths topic is ‘Multiplication and Division’. We started by recapping column multiplication and have progressed to multiplying 2-digit numbers by 4-digit numbers. Our presentation in books has been improving massively and we have been showing great perseverance.

Our learning about Beowulf has continued to grow this week as we have been identifying key features in texts and learning about the impact they have on the reader. We have been looking at paragraphs, powers of 3 and noun phrases this week!

In PE today, we have been doing handball and, despite the rain, we had a lot of fun. We were dribbling the ball and passing to our teammates. Earlier in the week, we also experimented with some new skills in gymnastics such as ‘over the shoulder rolls’ and ‘full turn jumps’. We enjoyed sharing our own skills with our class.
