Spa Class blog

Welcome to Spa Class blog

In English we have read the story ‘Busy Day Firefighter.’ We talked about what a Firefighter needs to wear and why.

Kaia explained they needed a helmet.  Tom said boots and Tommy said a jacket and trousers. We labelled a Firefighter uniform by listening for the initial sounds in words.

In Maths, we have continued to look again at subitising. We have played games using our fast eyes to say how many objects we can see. We have been showing these amounts using our fingers.

In Phonics, we sang the nursery rhyme ‘Ring a Ring a Roses,’ and played the ring game.  We identified pictures beginning with the same sounds and words that rhyme. We listened for the ‘P’ initial sound in words and enjoyed playing cvc blending games.

In Learning Means the World, we have enjoyed taking on the roles of Firefighters and watched a video of Firefighters putting out a fire. We started to make junk model fire engines and talked about the shape of the boxes which are best to use.

Outside, we have been exploring ice and discussing ways to make the ice melt. Lewis suggested using ‘hot water.’ Cooper enjoyed tapping the ice with a spoon to try and free the objects hiding inside it.

Our new play dough arrived this week and the children were able to choose a colour of play dough which they wanted to use and helped to share it out into pots. We enjoyed our dough disco session!
