Spa Class Blog

Welcome to the Spa Class blog!
In English we read the story ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ We noticed the speech bubbles in the storybook and talked about how they are used to show what the character is saying. We made our own speech bubbles. Tegan explained Baby Bear would say ‘Look at my chair.’ We also made story maps and could use these to help us retell the story.
In Maths we have been looking at the number 4. We read the story Pete the Cat and his four groovy buttons. We have used different ways to make 4. We can recognise number 4 and identify when there are 4 objects.
In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. We identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words and made our own voice sounds to match pictures. We listened for the ‘R’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with the ‘R’ sound and words that started with a different sound.
In Learning Means the World we have started our new unit - ‘If you Go Down to the Wood.’ We painted different types of bears and had fun making porridge for the bears and talking about the changes. Isaac explained, ‘It looks like milk.’ Jaxon explained, 'It feels wet.’ Tommy explained, ‘It feels slimy.’
We also had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day! We enjoyed seeing everyone's costumes and sharing their books. We created some lovely art work based on the three little pigs to decorate the classroom door.
