In Y1, it is a statutory requirement that all pupils complete a short check to assess their progress in phonics. The children have completed various very similar checks as part of ongoing assessment throughout the year and are very familiar with the structure. All year 1 pupils, and those Y2 pupils who didn't pass in Y1 will complete the check during this week.
