Curriculum Information

English: We are reading the books 'Colour Monster Goes to School' by Anna Llenas; 'All About Families' by Felicity Brooks; 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell, and 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Can You See?' By Eric Carle. We will be thinking about ourselves and our emotions, who is in our family as well as different animals. We will be developing our skills to retell stories, create story maps, develop attributing meaning to our marks, and start to write simple CVC words.

Maths – We will be developing our understanding of 1:1 correspondence, composition of numbers up to 4 and using comparison language. We will also be looking at sorting and comparing amounts, as well as measure and patterns.

Understanding the World – We are looking at ‘Me and my small world,’ and ‘Let’s go Outside.’ We will be thinking about our bodies and our world around us. We will be exploring the outdoor environment and focusing on exploring the season of Autumn.

History: During ‘Peek into the Past’ we will be thinking about how we have changed from baby to now.

RE: We will be thinking about why the word God is important to Christians. We will find out about how Christians believe that God created the world, how God is special and the Harvest Festival.

Music: We will be exploring sound. We will make vocal sounds, body percussion, use instruments and find sounds in the environment and nature.

PSHE: Being Me in My World – We will be thinking about ourselves, our feelings, and how we can be good friends. We will talk about being at school, using gentle hands, being kind and following the classroom rules.

PE: Body Management and Dance - Pupils will practice core balance and spatial awareness through body management activities, while developing coordination through dance.

Home school communication, both to celebrate the good things and tackle any problems or concerns, is essential in ensuring the very best education for your child. Parents, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher via admin@htceschools.co.uk

As part of our whole school commitment to wellbeing, there is no expectation on our staff to read or answer emails sent between 6pm and 8am in the week, or any at weekends or holidays.  Should your email not receive a reply, this is not a case of being impolite but one of choosing wellbeing ahead of workload.
