Statutory Assessments
You may be aware that children undertake a range of assessments during their time in school and this includes statutory assessments (those the government require us to do).
Please see the table below for more information and please be reassured that we ensure the wellbeing of children is cared for in all our planning and actions, including where related to assessments.

Phonic Screening Check - if a child does not meet the threshold mark in Year 1, they will also redo the assessment in Year 2. | |
Yr 2 |
Y2 SATs are no longer statutory. The DfE still send schools the papers, and they are administered as part of pupils' normal daily routine. They are used as another source of evidence when assessing children. There are assessment papers for maths, reading and grammar, punctuation & spelling (GPS). Final judgements for the end of KS1 are decided by teacher assessment. |

Yr 4 |
Multiplication 'tables check'. The children answer questions on a computer screen. | DfE guidance for parents |
Yr 6 |
SATs - assessment tests in maths, reading and grammar, punctuation & spelling (GPS). These assessments are externally marked. Writing is assessed throughout the year by class teachers and moderated externally. Results are shared with secondary schools who often use the results to set target grades for GCSEs. |
